Towards an Understanding of Licensed Senior
Anglers in Texas
The purpose of this project is to understand an angler group previously
unstudied in Texas and probably elsewhere as well, namely, seniors or those
who are 65 years of age and above. By understanding angler diversity,
managers can design diversity into their programs, better institute rules
and regulations, and know which constituents will be affected accordingly.
If managers are able to recognize and serve the diverse needs of anglers,
broad based support for fisheries programs will be maintained and when this
occurs, all Texas anglers and economic interests associated with the
recreational fishing industry benefit. |

Understanding Private Landowner Participation in Wildlife Conservation Cost-Share Programs
January 2005 to Present
The purpose of this project is to assemble the information needed to provide reliable guidance for the most effective use of program incentives for gaining landowner participation in wildlife conservation efforts. Our objectives are to 1) survey landowners in Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, and Mclennan Counties to determine their interest in participating in a conservation program; 2) estimate the cost effectiveness of the conservation plan under a selected set of alternative participation rates; and, 3) assess the feasibility and relative efficiency of using a 501-3c entity and selected alternative institutional arrangements for contract and financial arrangements required to implement and operate the conservation plan. |
